🤔 WHY do carbs go down easy?

Hey Reader!

GASP! I'm a day late with my weekly newsletter!

This really never happens, but I do have a good reason. I've been waist-deep in getting my *new* Premier Access website out into the world! This week we have member's beta testing and next week I'll be getting everyone moved over and working out the kinks! It's like moving to a new house. So exciting, so much work, so worth it.

I took a pause to get this newsletter in your inbox! And stay tuned - once I get BFC members situated in the new beautiful website, I'll be hosting a free coaching lab to celebrate! More info next week 🤩

Here’s what to expect in this mid-week email:

  • Why do high-carb foods go down easy??
  • What's on my menu this week
  • My weekly "dash" of bariatric pillar tips
  • My weekly featured kitchen tool
  • Upcoming news and events! 🤗

Why do 'carbs' go down the best?

Popcorn. Crackers. Pretzel thins.

These are foods you know aren’t ideal for controlling hunger and hitting your goals after surgery. You don’t need another class from a dietitian to know that

But why do these foods go down so easily after your bariatric surgery?

It can be frustrating when the foods you know would serve you better, aren’t serving you anything but heartburn and chest pain.

This conversation is also for you if you:

Prefer yogurt over chicken.

Need crackers to get your tuna salad down.

Would rather live on soups than eat meats. 👇

What's on my menu this week?

Here is what is on my menu this week :

Each week my menu has two recipes that are unlocked for anyone to enjoy! I will link the unlocked recipes below. If the recipe isn't listed here, it's inside Premier Access 🥗

Lasagna Stew

Italian Meatloaf

🧂 Just a Dash….of bariatric pillar tips.

I posted some stress-eating tips on Instagram this week. We're headed into the Holiday Season which means ⬆️ stressors and trigger foods.

You can catch the full post on Instagram or on this blog about stress eating.

Here is my tip for this week: engage your parasympathetic nervous system.

It's a big word, but the actions are small. Deep breathing, cold water on the face (you could put a cold water bottle on your cheeks), music with a slow beat, stepping outside and noticing nature, or using aromatherapy scents that bring you calm. They seem so small you wonder if they really work, but what do you have to lose if you try?

Bariatric Pillar Product of the Week

My all time favorite tea: Bengal Spice

It's been over a year since I shared my favorite tea. It seems the perfect time to share it once again. BENGAL SPICE - it's so good! It's an herbal tea (naturally caffeine-free), spicy yet sweet and after years I have not tired of it. I drink it nearly year-round in the evenings when my husband and I relax and read on the couch after the kids are in bed. We buy six boxes at a time, and it's an ordeal if we don't restock in time!

So, Reader, since you made it to the end - you're the first to know I am tentatively planning my free coaching lab "Your Next Best Step" on Monday, November 18th!

More emails coming next week. I've been working hard on this and so excited to get it into the world!

Best,

🍓 Steph

BERRY STAND SALE | BERRY STAND SALE | BERRY STAND SALE [~Contact.FirstName~ ], The last couple of weeks have been blurred by my fun yet wild entry into Summer mode. ☀️ This was me today *no filter* sitting poolside with one kid on the playground and the other learning the butterfly stroke. Which by no means I ever have learned myself! Typically (since 2018), June has meant prepping for a “Get Focused Challenge” for my Premier Access Members. But this year? I’ve careened into Summer and can...

If cookout season feels more like dried up chicken season, then we gotta talk!! Gravitating away from meats and leaning more towards yogurts, soups, and tuna salad is a tale as old as time for post-op ones. While you're allowed to go soft on occasion, it doesn't have to (shouldn't have to) be your daily MO! This week's blog is for you 🎁 But not the only thing hanging around this email! The menu, tips, products, and member news is full of goodies too! Our member scavenger hunt is starting off...

Happy Wednesday! Wagner fam is in FULL-ON summer mode over here 💦 Swim team activated, sewing camp started (so excited for that one), and getting our college sitter acclimated for a handful of hours during the week so I can break away and keep my day job 😉 My inbox has flooded with questions about TRAVEL this time of year. I'm with you! We have a lake trip and a camping trip ahead and I have the Pinterest boards of craft ideas and packing solutions to prove it. Food can be hacked too! This...
